Novatek Boosts Samburg Gas Condensate

Russian gas producer Novatek and Gazprom Neft have expanded the gas condensate treatment facility’s capacity at the Samburgskiy license area which will also allow more gas production from the deeper Achimov horizons, Novatek said February 7.

Pilot operations have started at the facility’s third stage with a capacity of 1.2mn metric tons/yr of condensate. “We are increasing production from deeper Achimov horizons with higher concentration of liquid hydrocarbons,” said CEO Leonid Mikhelson. “By drilling new Achimov wells and commissioning the additional production capacities, we will increase our natural gas and liquids production in the unified gas supply system area, as well as increase the volumes of gas condensate processing.”

There was no reference to the marketing of the gas. Last October, the two companies in their Arcticgaz partnership began production at another small field in the Samburgskiy licence area, as it was also near Gazprom's pipeline network.
