Novatek and Gazprom Discuss Possibility of LNG Cooperation

Russian Novatek has said it has met with Gazprom in order to discuss to discuss the possibility of cooperation on liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects between the two companies.

Chairman of Novatek’s Management Board, Leonid Mikhelson,  met with CEO of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, to discuss LNG cooperation, particularly in relation to LNG production capacity near the Arctic port of Sabetta, on the Yamal Peninsula, through the development of new fields in that peninsula. 

Novatek also said in a statement after the meeting that a joint development strategy for the hydrocarbon resources of the Gydan peninsula to offset declining production in the Nadym-Pur-Taz region was also discussed. 

Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprombank (OAO), Andrey Akimov was also in attendance, the press release from Novatek said.
