Norwegian Pay Talks Start (Again) on Friday

The new round of negotiations on pay and conditions for the oil service sector between Norwegian Oil and Gas (Norog) and Industry Energy could end up in the strike of 78 employees in case the parts did not reach agreement by the deadline of 24.00 on 5 July.

‘A possible escalation of the strike can be implemented with 14 days notice,’ reads the note released by Norsk Olje&Gass.

Friday and Saturday have been assigned for the mediation. A new round of negotiations will be held in mid-August with the Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (Safe) over the same agreement.

In the last 12 years, Norway’s oil and gas industry witnessed three strikes: in 2012, 2006 and 2002.
