Norwegian gas supply down 1.4% in March

Norwegian gas supply fell 1.4% month on month in March to 316.5mn m3/day, which was also 0.7% below the forecast, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) reported on April 20. Year-on-year, production was down 8.4% despite the cold weather in March and the depletion of storage sites across Europe.

Output is expected to slump to 276mn m3/d in April and then 274mn m3/d in May. But it should then bounce back to 294mn m3/d in June and 316mn m3/d in July. Supply is expected to decline again in late summer and early autumn, before recovering to 334mn m3/d in December. By that time the Hammerfest LNG terminal is planned to be operating again after the fire last year.
