Norwegian gas supply beats forecast in March

Norwegian natural gas supply averaged 336.7mn m3/day in March, surpassing the government's forecast by 6.3%, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) reported on April 21.

Production also came in at 5.8% above the level in March last year. But it was down 3.3% versus the volume in February.

Oil and other liquids supply in contrast lagged behind the forecast by 8.5%, at 2.141mn barrels/day, which was also down 6.4% year/year and 1.9% month/month.

Norwegian production is set to climb higher in the coming months, as producers have cut gas reinjection at oilfields to free up extra supplies for export. Equinor's Hammerfest LNG plant is also on track to resume operations in mid-May. The facility has been out of action since September 2020, when a serious fire broke out at the site.
