Norwegian December Gas Exports Up

Norway delivered 11.2bn m³ to markets in December, an increase of 300mn m³ on November; and also up on the December before, the Norwegian offshore regulator NPD said January 23, using preliminary data. It brings the total for the year to 124.21bn m³, a figure it had reported two weeks ago.

Last year's actual output beat the forecast for this year in each month, and beat the actual 2016 figure each month except in May, possibly the result of a different maintenance period.

Nearly all the gas goes to Europe by pipeline but some is liquefied and exported to world markets or used in bunkering domestically.

Aggregate provisional 2017 gas sales data from Norwegian pipelines operator Gassco (exports by pipe), and from the NPD (total gas sales, including LNG), were published January 11; both were record figures.
