Norway’s Connect LNG signals broader focus with name change

Norwegian energy company Connect LNG said April 7 it changed its name to ECONNECT Energy to better reflect the global energy transition.

Founded in 2012, the company was among the first to pioneer the jettyless transfer of LNG. With the change, the company said it was broadening its focus to include renewable fuels and carbon capture.

CEO Morten Christophersen said the company’s established footprint in the LNG market and its experience gained in the carbon, capture and storage arena suggests the transition will be relatively easy.

“For us, this is a natural progression on our journey,” he said. “We will always seek to challenge the status quo and look beyond.”
