Normalisation of Relations with Iran on Its Way?

New signs of easing tensions between Europe and Iran came on Tuesday, when the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office released a note about the relations with Teheran.

William Hague, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, said that it is the right time to reopen the British Embassy in Teheran. Hague expects a similar decision from Iran.

‘Iran is an important country in a volatile region, and maintaining embassies around the world, even under difficult conditions, is a central pillar of the UK’s global diplomatic approach,’ reads a note published by the British government

The UK intends to find its way to conduct bilateral business directly, rather than through Swedish and Omani intermediaries.

As the struggle between Russia and the West deepens, Iranian gas is particularly appealing to Europeans. BP’s recent statistics indicate that Iran has risen to the first place with its 33.6 trillion cubic meters of blue fuel.

International sanctions seriously hit Iranian energy sector. Experts say that the country will need 5-15 years to resume productions to pre-crisis levels. After the sanctions relief achieved in November 2013, Iran needs foreign capitals for its energy projects.
