Nigerian Assa N Pipe Gets Go-Ahead

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its joint venture partners took the final investment decision (FID) on the Assa North/Ohaji South (ANOH) gas pipeline project February 13. The partners are Anglo-Dutch Shell, French Total, and Italian Eni. Shell took FID on Assa North December 26.

NNPC said the project has officially gone into the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) stage and told press that pipeline will deliver first gas between Q4 2019 and Q1 2020. ANOH will add about 600mn ft/day to the national gas grid with capacity to double. There are also condensate sales to come. The project, will be a link between the Eastern, Western and Northern gas pipeline system.

Two project management consultants, DeltaAfrik/Worley Parson & Crestech/Penspen, are working with the JV partners and other stakeholders to achieve set project deliverables.

Shell's country head Osagie Okunbor said the project would offer immeasurable opportunities for Nigerian firms to benefit from engineering, procurement and construction contracts, as well as the inauguration of boards to administer the funding of local development projects within the host communities for the next five years.
