Nigeria: State-Owned Pipeline Attacked

Militants targeted Nigeria's state-owned Trans Forcados oil pipeline on Nov. 1, just hours after President Muhammadu Buhari met with community leaders from the Niger Delta, AP reported Nov. 2.

Though no one has claimed the attack yet, a group known as the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate recently threatened to target the pipeline because it was not given a place at the talks.

With details about what took place still emerging, it is worth noting that criminal activity related to destroying pipelines to steal oil is a major issue in the delta.

The Trans Forcados pipeline was previously targeted in July, part of a wave of attacks against oil infrastructure in the delta since the beginning of 2016.
