NIGC Sees Iran's Gas Exports at 66 bcm by 2021

Iran expects its gas exports to touch 66 billion cubic meters by 2021.

Hamid-Reza Araqi, managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), said Monday that country's gas output will reach 1bcm/d from the current 0.5bcm/d by 2021, state owned Shana News reported.

Currently, Iran exports 10bcm/y of its gas mostly to Turkey. Most of Iran's gas output comes from the joint South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf.

South Pars contains 40 trillion cubic meters (tcm) of natural gas.  It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.

The gas field is estimated to contain 18 billion barrels of condensate.
