New Zealand Oil & Gas to Drill Three Wells This Year

New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG) in its June quarterly report said that it will drill three exploration wells before the end of 2018.

The company plans to drill one well in New Zealand’s Taranaki Basin and two in Indonesia. In Taranaki, NZOG has 25% interest in the Kohatukai well in PEP 55768, targeting gas condensate in a field analagous to the nearby Pohokura field that currently provides about a third of New Zealand’s total gas production, NZOG said. “Work to prepare the well site has been completed and the drilling is expected to begin about September,” it said.

In North Sumatra, Indonesia, the company has commenced preparations to drill the Bohorok well, also targeting gas at an address close to existing infrastructure. The well is planned for 4Q 2018. Also in Indonesia, preparations are underway to drill the Paus Biru-1 exploration well in the Sampang production sharing contract (PSC), where NZOG subsidiary Cue Energy has a 15% interest. It is also timed for 4Q 2018, the company said.
