New CEO takes reins at Var Energi

Torger Rod has taken over as CEO of Eni's Norwegian unit Var Energi, following his appointment to the role in January, the company reported on June 1.

Var Energi's former CEO Kristin Kragseth left the company in December to head Norway's state-owned Petoro. Rod had a 22-year career at Equinor, mostly recently serving as the company's head of safety and security. Before that role he worked as its senior vice president of project development.

"Taking over one of the leader Norwegian continental shelf actors in a time of unprecedented challenges for the industry is very inspiring," Rod said in a statement. "The climate challenge can only be solved through the deep involvement and transition of the oil and gas sector. The Norwegian oil and gas industry is well positioned to taking a leading role in this, whilst continuing to provide employment across the country and income for the state."

Var Energi is 69.6%-owned by Eni and 30.4% by private equity group HitecVision
