Neptune Lines orders two LNG-fuelled vessels

Greek shipping company Neptune Lines has ordered two LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carriers that will be built by Fujian Mawei shipyard in China and are scheduled to be delivered in 2026, it announced on September 5.

The new vessels will have a capacity of 4200 Ceu and hybrid energy systems that use battery installation to supply peak power. They will also be dual-fuelled, meaning that they can use LNG or VLSFO as fuel. This will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions even further, the company said.

The vessels will also have a controllable pitch propeller with shaft generator and multiple thrusters. This will improve the propulsion and efficient maneuvering of the vessels. Shore power capability will also be installed, which will allow the vessels to connect to port grids when available and remove emissions when in port.

The design of the vessels has been developed together with Deltamarin and the vessels will be classed by DNV.
