Neptune issues UK Cygnus inspection contract

North Sea-focused Neptune Energy said on July 21 it had awarded a subsea inspection contract to Dutch geo-data specialist Fugro for the producing Cygnus gas field in the UK south North Sea.

Fugro will use its specialised survey technology to inspect Cygnus' subsea infrastructure, including pipelines and structures, ahead of future drilling campaigns at the field, which is capable of meeting up to 6% of UK gas demand. Neptune operates the field with a 38.9% interest while Spirit Energy has 61.3%.

Neptune noted Fugro would carry out the data processing onshore rather than offshore, as is tradition, thereby reducing time and costs.
