Neptune Awards Work at UK Cygnus Platform

Private equity-backed Neptune Energy has awarded $6.5mn in contracts for integrity management and fabric maintenance at its Cygnus gas platform in the UK to Oceaneering and Stork, it said on January 12.

Oceaneering will supply integrity management services covering pressure systems, structural, pipeline, erosion management and offshore inspection services, Neptune said. The company will also work closely with Stork which will deliver fabric maintenance and scaffolding services. The contracts are three years in length, and each includes two one-year extension options.

The Cygnus field, situated in the southern North Sea, is the UK's single largest gas field, capable of meeting up to 6% of national demand. Neptune operates the field with a 38.75% interest, while its partner Spirit Energy, controlled by retailer Centrica, has 61.25%.

"We are pleased to be awarding these contracts to Oceaneering and Stork which demonstrates our commitment to supporting service partners and to maximising efficiency," Neptune's UK managing director Alexandra Thomas said. "Combining the scopes of work for our Cygnus production facility within a broader agreement creates additional synergies and reduces complexity."
