Naturgy, Fiat Ink CNG Alliance

Spanish gas marketer Naturgy and Italy’s Fiat Professional – part of the FCA vehicle group – signed a strategic agreement September 26 to promote gas as a fuel in Spain among light commercial vehicles.

The alliance aims to develop new refuelling infrastructure in Spain and expand the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) by vans and other small commercial vehicles, in order to improve air quality in cities. No budget details were provided in the Naturgy statement.

Fiat and Naturgy (formerly known as Gas Natural) will jointly offer packages of commercial services to vehicle fleet owners in Spain and jointly promote the benefits of CNG as a commercial vehicle fuel. Naturgy’s statement noted that Fiat’s ‘Ducato’ vans are widely also used as motorhomes in Europe’s leisure market.

London-domiciled FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is an Italian-US multinational still part-owned by Italy’s Agnelli family, the original owners of Fiat.
