Naturgy Exec to Head Transport Lobby

Spanish utility Naturgy's new business director Joaquin Mendiluce has been named president of Gasnam, the Iberian association that promotes use of gas and biogas in transport.

His appointment was approved October 18 by Gasnam's executive board. He will replace Jose Ramon Freire, who has held the post since Gasnam's foundation in 2013.

Mendiluce (shown below, courtesy of Naturgy) has been instrumental in expanding Naturgy's LNG and gas supply to the shipping and road truck sectors. Naturgy was previously called Gas Natural.

Gasnam now has 125 members in Spain and Portugal from the energy, automotion, engineering, shipowners, ports and transport, and academic sectors.
