National Iranian Drilling Company to Resume Activities in Foreign Markets

With sanctions now gone, the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) is looking to venture in overseas markets.

NIDC’s drilling activities were significantly curtailed in foreign countries due to US and European sanctions.

Hamid-Reza Takaydi, the deputy managing director of NIDC, told media outlet IRNA that as its first step, the comapny will start activities in the Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries.

“Our priority is neighboring countries and therefore we are seeking presence in Central Asian and Persian Gulf countries,” Takaydi said. “We are considering different projects and will apply for some tenders.”

He added that the company is even looking to enter Kazakhstan.

Before the sanctions on Tehran intensified, Iran was actively present in oil and gas drilling projects abroad.
