Nakilat takes delivery of new LNGC

Qatari shipping company Nakilat has taken delivery of a newbuild LNG carrier Global Sea Spirit, it said on October 26 in a statement.

Built by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, this is the third of four LNG newbuild carriers to be delivered to Global Shipping Co, a joint venture between Nakilat and Maran Ventures. The first two carriers were delivered in May 2020 and January 2021 respectively and are currently in service. Global Sea Spirit will be commercially and technically managed in-house by Nakilat Shipping Qatar.

With a cargo carrying capacity of 174,000 m3, Global Sea Spirit is the first vessel with X-DF propulsion to join the Nakilat fleet, with the second newbuild expected to be delivered early next year, the company said.  The carrier is chartered to Cheniere Marketing International.

The delivery of all four newbuild LNG carriers by 2022 will bring Nakilat’s fleet to 74 vessels.
