Ukraine picks govt rep for Naftogaz supervisory board

Ukraine's cabinet of ministers has appointed Yulia Svyrydenko as a government representative to serve on the supervisory board of Naftogaz, the state-owned gas supplier reported on May 31.

Svyrydenko will serve on the board until there are new appointments by the government, but for no longer than one year, Naftogaz said. She is also the deputy head of the Ukrainian president's office, and previously worked in the ministries of economic development and trade and agriculture.

Naftogaz's previous supervisory board announced their resignation at the end of April with effect from May 14, following the ousting of CEO Andriy Kobolyev.

However, following talks, Clare Spottiswoode, Bruno Lescoeur, Ludo Van der Heyden, Yuliya Kovaliv, and Nataliya Boyko  resumed their posts May 19 – "as reported," it said May 31 – and their powers have been extended until the government approves winners of the competition for the positions of independent supervisory board members.

Kobolyev's replacement Yury Vitrenko recently hired Svitlana ZalishchukMyron Wasylyk and Roman Suprun as advisors.
