N-KOM Receives First FSRU for Drydocking

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) recently received its first floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) project at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar, Nakilat said January 22.

The 138,000m3 FSRU Excelerate, owned by Excelerate Energy, will undergo drydocking, maintenance and upgrades at the facility. During its drydocking, the FSRU will undergo several modifications and retrofitting of new systems, including the installation of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS). To date, N-KOM has completed six such BWTS installations for various types of vessels such as LNG and LPG vessels as well as very large crude carriers, Nakilat said.

Earlier this month, ‘Exquisiteachieved a milestone accomplishment by completing the 200th ship-to-ship transfer of LNG at the Engro Elengy terminal in Pakistan’s Port Qasim. Nakilat acquired a 55% interest in ‘Exquisite’ in 2018, after forming a joint venture agreement with Excelerate Energy-USA.

Established in 2008, N-KOM is a joint-venture between Qatari state-owned Nakilat and Keppel Offshore & Marine.
