Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbon Company, Shell Plan GTL Project

Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH) and Royal Dutch Shell signed an agreement this week to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed gas-to-liquid (GTL) project and development of hydrocarbon exploration activities in Mozambique, reports local newspaper Noticias.

At the signing ceremony Chairman of the Board of Directors, ENH, Nelson Ocuane said that this agreement is part of the efforts of ENH to become a prominent and integrated oil company operating in Mozambique and other countries.

"Our mission is to add value to natural resources of the country and a proposed GTL is an appropriate response to this, since it allows the development of the gas chain,” Ocune said.

The two parties also agreed to conduct a joint study to identify some areas of high potential for hydrocarbons in Mozambique. The agreement contemplated that in the future, the parties may acquire joint rights in the area of hydrocarbons, Noticias adds.
