Mozambique to Sell 20% Stake Pemba Gas Terminal

Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH) plans to sell 20 percent stake in Pemba gas terminal, Agence Africaine de Presse (APA) said citing reports in local media.

The terminal is where natural gas extracted in the Rovuma basin would be exported by sea.

ENH’s chairman of logistics Eduardo Naiene said Portugal’s Banco Nacional de Investimento (BNI) has been mandated to lead the sale.

The facility, the first phase of which was launched in August, includes a 300-metre pier, facilities to produce and assemble undersea equipment, access roads and storage areas for equipment and mechanical workshops, to support the oil and gas industry in the region, with an estimated initial investment of $145 million.

Construction of the first phase of the Pemba Logistics Base is due to be completed in 2016, two years before the start of production of the gas extracted from the Rovuma basin, APA said.
