Moscow Reassures European Gas Markets

Moscow is stepping up its efforts to reassure European gas markets in the attempt to convince the industry that the situation in Ukraine and the arm-wrestling with Brussels will not impact on Gazprom’s business in the Old Continent.

On Friday, Gazprom said that its gas exports to Europe did not go registered any setbacks related to the turmoil in Ukraine. The Russian company, which ships about 40% of its exports via Ukraine, told Reuters that it is pumping in full volumes.

At the same time, Lithuania confirmed it is moving closer to an agreement with Moscow. Vilnius said it received the written offers about the gas price and other conditions for the gas it buys from Gazprom.

“We received the offers yesterday night. At the moment, the experts of the negotiating group are analysing them and they will present the conclusions to the Prime Minister next week," representative of the Government Rita Grumadaite said as reported by local newspapers.
