Moldova Extends Arrangements with Gazprom

Gazprom announced the extension of its existing gas supply and transit contracts with Moldovagaz until the end of the second quarter of 2012.

Gazprom and Moldovagaz annually enter into contracts outlining the terms and conditions for natural gas transit across Moldova.

Alexey Miller met with Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat in November to discuss gas contracts between the Gazprom and the Republic of Moldova, which is landlocked between Romania and Ukraine.

In late December the two companies extended the gas supply and transit contracts until the end of the first quarter of 2012.

Gazprom currently holds a 50 percent stake in Moldovagaz. The government of the Republic of Moldova holds a 35.3 percent stake, Cabinet of Ministers of Transnistria 13.44 percent and minority shareholders hold the remaining 1.23 percent.
