MOL Starts LNG Carrier Ship Management in Hong Kong

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) on Tuesday said its newly established LNG carrier management company, MOL LNG Transport (Asia) has begun ship management operations with its first vessel, effective April 18.

MOLLNG (Asia) was established in Hong Kong in September 2015.

“As MOL becomes involved in the operation of a growing number of LNG carriers, it intends to play a central role in ship management, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, to meet an anticipated increase in LNG shipments bound for Asia,” the company said.

Currently, MOL is involved in the operation of about 70 LNG carriers, and aims to further expansion its fleet. MOL first participated in an LNG transport project in 1983.
