McDermott Wins Vietnam Subcontract

US contractor McDermott International has been awarded a subcontract by Petrovietnam subsidiary PTSC for Vietnam's offshore Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet gas and condensate field developments.

Scope of the contract is expected to cover transportation and installation services for the central processing platform jacket, topside float-over, wellhead platform, flexible pipelines, subsea power cables and auxiliary services. Installation will be carried out at water depths of between 110 and 130 metres, McDermott said May 29, without disclosing the contract value. The work will be performed from 2019 to 2021.

The Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet gas and condensate fields are located in blocks 05-1b and 05-1c  in Vietnam's offshore Nam Con Son Basin. The two blocks are owned by Idemitsu Kosan (35%), JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corp (35%) and Singapore-based but Toronto-listed Jadestone Energy (30%).  Jadestone made progress on its other Vietnamese gas assets as well. It said May 29 that outline development plan (ODP) for the Nam Du and U Minh gas fields in block 46/07 and block 51 has received government approval.
