McDermott bags Fujairah LNG plant contract

UAE’s Adnoc has appointed US-based engineers McDermott International as the design contractor for its Fujairah LNG export plant in Fujairah, the company said on May 11 via a LinkedIn post.

The project – comprising two 4.8mn metric tons/year LNG trains – is expected to increase Adnoc’s LNG production capacity by 9.6mn mt/yr, as the company looks to respond to the growing global demand for natural gas.

According to Adnoc, the plant is also set to become one of the world’s lowest carbon intensity LNG production facilities by incorporating new technologies and running on clean power.

The design stage is expected to be followed by the award of an EPC contract in 2023.
