Marubeni, PTT to Study LNG Bunkering in Thailand

Japanese Marubeni Corporation and Thai PTT have begun a joint feasibility study to implement LNG bunkering at Laem Chabang Port, the largest industrial port in Thailand, the Japanese company said December 27.

Marubeni expects demand for LNG bunkering to grow as exports grow and environmental regulations tighten. At Laem Chabang Port, where more than 8,000 ships arrive and leave annually, a third expansion plan is being implemented which is expected to boost demand for LNG bunkering.

This joint study will verify the feasibility of an LNG bunkering project that utilises a fuel supply ship that is compatible with an existing PTT managed LNG receiving terminal in Map Ta Phut, Marubeni said.
