Malaysia’s Sapura Signs Raft of Contracts

Sapura Energy announced April 12 that it has secured five new contracts worth RM 1.3bn ($315mn).

Marking its entry to the Egyptian market, Sapura will lay six new subsea pipelines in the Gulf of Suez. Around 57km of pipeline will be laid at the Morgan field for the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO), a joint venture between BP and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.

Sapura Drilling will provide a tender assist drilling rig to ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia for three at the Tabu field, offshore Peninsular Malaysia. Meanwhile, a contract extension with Petronas will see Sapura assist on the drilling of nine wells at the Sumandak, Erb West and Dulang facilities, offshore Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.

In Indonesia, Sapura Offshore, in a joint venture with PT Timas Suplindo, has won a contract from ENI East Sepinggan to lay 95km in two offshore rigid pipelines at the East Sepinggan Block, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Sapura will also work on a submarine rescue system for The Royal Australian Navy, with capability to support NATO.
