Malaysia's Sapura Wins Qatari Pipe Work

Malaysian services company Sapura Energy on November 16 announced it had won a pipeline contract in Qatar from France's Total. The project is part of several contracts the company has recently won with a combined value of approximately ringgit 611mn ($149mn).

Sapura Fabrication will undertake engineering, procurement, supply, construction, installation and pre-commissioning of two 16-inch pipelines connecting three platforms at the Al-Khalij field at Block 6. The field is located approximately 110 km from the mainland, in an average water depth of about 59 m. The work is expected to be completed by the end of July 2022.

Sapura Fabrication has also won a contract from Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company (CPOC) for engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, hook-up and commissioning services at the Additional Andalas Pipeline Project Phase 4 Development in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area. Its work relates to host tie-in and brownfield modifications at the Jengka-A, Andalas-B and MUDA platforms.

The work should wrap up by the end of October 2022. Earlier this year Sapura was hired to build a 29-km subsea pipeline as part of the same project.

Finally, Sapura Drilling Holdings has been awarded a contract by Total to provide its Sapura Berani tender assist drilling rig offshore Congo. The rig will drill three wells, starting sometime between November 2021 and January 2022, over a three-month period. The contract includes an option for a fourth well.
