Major Chinese Gas Pipe Hits Operational Milestone

Sinopec-operated Ordos-Anping-Cangzhou gas pipeline in north China has crossed the milestone of transporting over 10bn m3 of gas since it was commissioned in November 2018, the company said on September 17.

The 700-km pipeline has transported and sold a total of 10.02bn m3 of natural gas to date to downstream customers in north China. It passes through 23 counties and eight cities in Hebei and Henan provinces, connecting with production centres in the Ordos basin and Sinopec’s Tianjin LNG receiving terminal.

The pipeline can currently handle 4bn m3/yr of gas, but is due to be expanded to 7bn m3/yr.

The project falls under the national and Hebei province’s 13th five-year plan (2016-2020) aimed at cleaning up air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north China.
