Lukoil Starts Filanovsky phase 2

Lukoil has begun phase two production at its Filanovsky offshore oil field in the Russian Caspian, slightly behind its original schedule of late 2017. Phase one began producing in 2016.

The Russian company said January 31 it had completed construction and commissioning of the first well of phase 2 of the Caspian Sea field, a single bore horizontal well with the measured depth of 3.5km that initially flowed 2,400 metric tons of oil per day. As a result, daily oil production at the field increased to 16,800 mt. It has started to drill an injection well too.

Filanovsky’s recoverable resources total 129mn mt of oil (942mn bbls) plus 30bn m³ of gas; Lukoil’s target for the field’s plateau oil production is 6mn mt/yr (120,000 b/d). It is being developed in three phases; construction of the wellhead platform started last year for the phase 3 development.
