Lukoil Boosts Q2 Gas Output

Russia's privately-owned oil producer Lukoil boosted its production of gas in Q2 2017 by 7.6% compared with Q1, thanks to domestic and foreign investments, it said August 15. Gas output was up 9.6% H1 2017 compared with the same period of last year.

The company's oil output was down slightly year on year owing to the decision by Moscow to limit crude output, in support of Opec.

Total gas output was 7.0bn m³, of which about a third came from abroad. As a result, for the first six months of 2017 Lukoil produced 13.4bn m³ gas. It said this was mainly to do with the launch of gas facilities at Pyakyakhinskoe field in the prolific Yamal Nenets region, at the beginning of 2017; and the development of gas projects in Uzbekistan.

Between start up in January 2017 and March, the total production of gas at Pyakyakhinskoye oil and gas condensate field exceeded 400mn m³. Oil and gas condensate production began in October 2016. The field's recoverable reserves of the C1+C2 categories, by the Russian classification, are estimated at 86mn mt of oil/gas condensate and 261bn m³ of gas.

The operating well stock includes 25 gas and 54 oil wells. The average daily flow rate exceeds 300,000 m³ for a gas well and 70 mt for an oil well, as of March.

Production is growing at the V. Filanovsky field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. This is one of Russia's largest offshore oil fields with recoverable reserves of 129mn metric tons of crude and 30bn m³ of gas, although so far it has only referred to its oil output. Phase 2 is due to be completed by year-end. Commercial production at the field started on October 31, 2016.

In Uzbekistan, where Lukoil is the only Russian gas producer active, it is building an 8bn m³/yr gas processing facility for the Kandym-Khauzat-Shady fields.
