It is also a year in which oversupply and trade tensions are placing pressure on exporters, threatening shut-ins and shifting trade flows away from established norms.

Under these pressures, Europe’s role as a sink for excess LNG volumes has come to the fore. Ample supplies across both basins have seen European and Asian hub prices entering into periods of correlation, providing intimations of a better integrated, mature commoditised LNG market to come. The UK in particular has benefited from the abundance of low-cost LNG, with imports soaring to record levels over the Summer months.

These issues will be addressed this October at the UK’s only global LNG conference – the LNG Global Congress. A global meeting place for players across the LNG value chain, LNGgc will bring together 70+ expert speakers to discuss the issues most important to the industry.

Through a balance of detailed presentations, in-depth case studies and engaging panel discussions, the conference will examine how new capacity additions and evolving demand drivers are shaping LNG market dynamics in 2019.

The agenda also focusses on the long-term factors influencing the LNG industry, including the impact of decarbonisation policy in Europe and emerging economies, and the prospects for continued consumption growth in China and ASEAN.

New for 2019 is the LNG Contract and Pricing Masterclass, which will run alongside the already popular LNG as a Fuel & Small-Scale Summit. The class will be led by Niall Trimble, of the Energy Contract Company, and Vivek Chandra of Texas LNG.
