LNG exports from Australian east coast unchanged in August

LNG exports from the three projects located on the Australian east coast were unchanged in August from the year-ago period at 1.84mn tonnes, according to Gladstone Port Corp. data published on September 6. The exports were up 2.2% month/month, however.

China was the largest importer of LNG from Australia in August, with 1.1mn tonnes, up from 0.92mn tonnes last year. Malaysia imported 244,274 tonnes, down from 248,015 tonnes and South Korea imported 241,598 tonnes, down from 285,929 tonnes.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG. In the year 2022, the combined LNG exports from these projects amounted to 22.64mn tonnes, which was slightly below the record high of 23.47mn tonnes achieved in 2021.
