Lithuania Praises EU for Attempts to Develop Internal Energy Market

Lithuania’s Minister of Energy publicly praised the EU attempts to develop an internal energy market and ‘to eliminate any energy island.’

According to a note released on Thursday, Minister of Energy Jaroslavas Neverovičius said that ‘some very tangible instruments are now available for the objectives set a couple of years ago by the European Council.’

Neverovičius remarked that a competitive EU international energy market requires diversification, interconnections and efforts of the member states.

‘Power and gas markets, as well as power generation, should be based on an EU approach; however, we must first ensure the functioning of the above markets in the regions,’ reads the note.
