Libya Resumes Gas Exports to Italy

The week started off well for Italy’s Eni, with a mix of positive externalities and technological achievements.

On Sunday, Libya resumed gas exports to Italy after protesters left the Mellitah port.

"We have started with small quantities to resume gas exports to Italy. Once pressure is higher volumes will increase," NOC spokesman Mohammed al-Harari said.

On Monday, the oil and gas major announced it has fired up its new Petaflop class supercomputer.

‘The supercomputer will support hydrocarbon exploration activities, providing the computing capacity needed to improve the accuracy and resolution of the geophysical and geological studies, which are essential to locate and develop new hydrocarbon reserves and to project safe and optimal drilling activities,’ reads a note released on Monday.

The system will support the execution of the Eni leading edge suite of 3D Seismic Imaging packages, as well as advanced Petroleum System Modelling Algorithms.

Also on Monday, the Italian government said that it would unveil its privatisation program later this week. The debt-cutting plan could also include Eni.
