Levant Basin Gas Dispute Continues to Simmer

The Financial Times and Bloomberg both dedicated coverage today to the heighten tensions between Cyprus, Turkey, Greece and Israel, as result of natural gas exploration in the eastern Mediterranean area known as the Levant Basin.

Turkey has responded strongly to plans by Cyprus to start exploratory drilling for offshore gas deposits, calling it a “provocation” and saying it disregards Turkish Cypriots' rights and would damage long-running talks aimed at reunification.
