Israel: Tamar Partners Seeking to Sell LNG to Gazprom

Gazprom's marketing arm, Gazprom Marketing and Trading Switzerland has today signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the marketing team for the Tamar LNG partners to begin non-exclusive talks for gas supply from the offshore Israeli field and one other field.

The LoI is signed between Gazprom Marketing and Trading (GM&T) and Levant LNG Marketing Corporation and follows on from a meeting yesterday between GM&T and the Tamar partners.

At that meeting, the Gazprom marketing arm met with Noble Energy, Isramco Negev 2, Delek Drilling, Avner Oil Exploration, DorGas Exploration, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), D&H Solutions, Next Decade and Levant.

Levant LNG is seeking to sell gas produced from the Tamar gas field in the Mediterranean Sea and the Dalit field, both in Israel

The deal would see Levant LNG, a marketing company set up by DSME, D&H Solutions and Next Decade, seek to sell two to three million tonnes of liquefied natural gas to Gazprom annually.

A statement from GM&T says the LOI will aim to "fast-track" the development of the project.

The sale of gas would allow Gazprom to diversify its supply away from Europe, where gas prices are higher.
