Lane to Stimulate Baltic Basin Wells

Lane Energy Poland plans to stimulate two vertical wells to test shales in Paleozoic formations in the Baltic basin in north-central Poland.

The company has drilled the Lebien LE1 well and cored the target shales. Drilling on the second well, Łęgowo LE1, began on August 27 and is at an advanced stage.

Lane Energy's unconventional gas program targets shales as deep as 3,500 m. Lebien and Łęgowo are the first exploration shale gas wells evaluating shales in the Baltic Basin of Northern Poland.

A limited number of frac stages is planned at each well, said Kamlesh Parmar, Lane Energy Poland country manager. The shales are of Silurian and Ordovician age.

The company is employing a mix of locally provided and Schlumberger-managed services at the wells.

Schlumberger is delivering a  a range of services for both wells, including drilling, logging and cementing, with M-I SWACO, a Schlumberger company, providing drilling fluid services. Schlumberger will be providing Completion, Stimulation and Well Testing Services during the production evaluation phase of the operations.

The Completion program has been submitted to the Polish Mining Authority and Completion operations are scheduled for October.
