Lancashire Officers Recommend to Refuse Consent for Cuadrilla Applications

Lancashire County Council’s Planning Officers recommended that the Council’s Development Control Committee refuse planning consent for Cuadrilla’s applications at Preston New Road and Roseacre Wood.

“Officers have recommended refusal at Preston New Road only on grounds of night-time noise and at Roseacre Wood on noise and traffic concerns” a Cuadrilla spokesperson commented on Wednesday.

According to the British company, Planning Officers accepted all the other aspects of the project.

“We note that the Planning Officer’s report has accepted the principle of our proposals and is satisfied with all other aspects of the planning applications and in particular their conclusion that properly regulated hydraulic fracturing is very low risk” he stated, adding that the company intends to resolve the problems in the near future.

Cuadrilla said it filed additional information about traffic routes for its application at Roseacre Wood.

The Development Control Committee will meet on January 28 also to discuss Cuadrilla’s application.

Last week, the UK’s Environmental Agency granted Cuadrilla Resources the environmental permits for the exploration site in Preston New Road.
