Kuwait Petroleum to Continue Talks on Launching an LNG Project in Russia

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) is looking to take negations further with Russia on launching an LNG project, KPC’s international marketing head Nabil Bourisly told Sputnik on Wednesday.

A Russian delegation visited Kuwait recently and two parties agreed to take the discussions forward.

“Still we are continuing discussion as to get a joint venture on one of the LNG projects in Russia. We are now waiting for information from Russia on the potential opportunities, and on when we can get to the projects. We hope that we can progress in the near future to get into this venture,” Bourisly said. “It goes very slow, but hopefully in the future we can get to some sort of cooperation.”

In November last year, Gazprom and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Sochi to cooperate in the field of LNG.

“The document outlines the main areas of potential partnership between the two companies, inter alia, in the area of LNG, LPG and other petroleum products as well as in the areas of sci-tech cooperation and investments,” Gazprom said after signing the MoU.
