Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) on Friday signed an agreement to explore for oil and natural gas Pakistan’s Paharpur block, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The Paharpur block is located in D.I. Khan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan and covers an area of approximately 2,261 sq. km.

The deal was inked by KUFPEC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah and Pakistan's Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources Arshad Mirza,

As the operator, KUFPEC will partner with State Oil and Gas Company of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other national exploration and production companies of Pakistan, KUNA reported quoting Al-Sabah.

The Paharpur block will be KUFPEC's second operated asset in the country and its first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The company also operates the Jati exploration block in Sindh, where drilling activities are expected to commence shortly, KUNA said.
