Kufpec Gets Indonesian Oil, Gas Block

Kufpec Regional Ventures Indonesia, a unit of state-owned Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (Kufpec), has been awarded the Anambas exploration block offshore West Natuna by the Indonesian government.

The block has been awarded under Indonesia’s 2019 Conventional Bid Round, Indonesia’s energy ministry said May 7. In addition to Kufpec, Conrad Petroleum had also bid for the block.

The ministry had put up five oil and gas blocks up for grabs in the 2019 round. But only two out of five oil and gas blocks were won by contractors. The other winner was Canada’s Sonoro Energy which won the Selat Panjang block along with its Indonesian partner, Menara Global Energi.

The 923 km2 Selat Panjang block is situated in Riau province, Central Sumatra and the block has produced oil and gas in prior years, Sonoro said May 7.
