Korean Shipping Firm Orders LNGC

South Korean shipping company Pan Ocean said in a bourse filing on December 24 that it had invested some won 204bn ($186mn) in a contract for the construction of an LNG carrier (LNGC).

The vessel should join Pan's fleet in April 2023 subject to the shipbuilding schedule, the company said, without specifying which shipyard had received the order. Pan's main business is dry cargo and oil transport, but it is looking to expand into LNG shipping to diversify its revenues.
