Kollsnes to Reopen Tomorrow

The Kollsnes gas processing plant will reopen tomorrow following essential maintenance by operator Gassco, after a fortnight of shutdown.

The maintenance, which began two weeks ago on the 10th of September, has seen output fall from one of Norway's largest gas fields, the Troll field, hitting gas supply to Europe. Last week, the Reuters news agency reported that exports from Norway to Europe had decreased significantly by 8.6 million cubic metres by last Wednesday.

Originally, the maintenance on the Kollnes gas processing plant, which handles gas from the Troll, Kvitebjørn and Visund fields, was planned to be completed last week with production planned to be resumed yesterday.

However, Gassco said today that operations would resume instead on Tuesday morning at 04:00 (GMT).

The Kollsnes process plants is one of the biggest plants of its kind in Norway with a maximum capacity of 143 million standard cubic metres of gas a day.
