Kogas to Develop Hydrogen Value Chain

State-owned Kogas has signed an agreement with five companies to develop hydrogen vehicles value chain in South Korea, it said on October 12 in a statement.

Kogas plans to establish a distribution industry for hydrogen vehicles with Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Motors, SPG Hydrogen, and Korea Hinet. The companies will work on production, transportation and distribution of hydrogen as well as operation of hydrogen stations, and the supply of hydrogen vehicles, Kogas said.

A ground-breaking ceremony was also held for the Hinet hydrogen centre, Kogas said. It will be built at Hyundai Steel's hydrogen plant to supply the vehicles. The centre will entail an investment of won 60bn ($52mn) and will be completed early next year. It will be capable of supplying 5 metric tons/day of hydrogen.
