Kogas, Qatar sign LNG deal

Korean state-run Korea Gas Corp (Kogas) has signed an agreement with Qatar to purchase 2mn metric tons/year of LNG for 20 years beginning from 2025, the country’s ministry of trade, industry and energy said on July 12.

Qatar has long-term deals to supply about 9mn mt/yr of LNG to Kogas. Some 4.9mn mt worth of contracts will end in 2024, the ministry said. The new deal starting from 2025 will make up for some of those volumes.

Kogas is South Korea’s main LNG importer and operates five receiving terminals.  South Korea is the world’s third-biggest LNG importer after Japan and China.
